Love · Life · Leadership
I believe the way we love shapes the way we live, and the way we live shapes how we lead, whether that's leading a classroom, a family, a chapter meeting, or just your own life.
For years, I saw these as three separate conversations: relationships, personal growth, and leadership. But the more I lived, wrote, and taught, the more I realized they're the same conversation. The patterns that show up in how we love (the power dynamics, the compromises, the risks we're willing to take) are the same patterns that show up in how we lead. And the way we treat ourselves in our darkest moments determines the kind of life, and the kind of leader, we become on the other side.
The people we love the most are often the same people who have the power to hurt us the most. That's not a contradiction, it's the nature of love itself. The closer we let someone in, the more room we give them to wound us, and the more room they have to heal us. Leadership works the same way. To lead people well, whether children, students, or a team, you have to let them close enough to actually be affected by them. A guarded leader who never lets anyone in stays safe, but never truly leads, they manage. Real leadership means accepting that the people you invest most in are also the ones with the power to disappoint you, challenge you, or let you down, and choosing to stay open anyway.
That's the thread running through everything I do: the books, the talks, the classroom, and the work still ahead. Love, Life, Leadership isn't three topics. It's one philosophy, seen from three angles.
